An off the wall guess........did they appear when he was cold & disappear after he warmed up? Could you think of them as "goosebumps"? Our igs are the opposite of iZ it sounds like. When ours get cool for too long or because they refused to come in & it was getting dark/colder, you can see a pattern of black dots...really, really, really little ones like pinpoints. Once they are warmed up the dots are gone.
I could be wrong but I don't think mites would just jump off & on at random. I get the impression that once they are on.....they're stuck until action is taken to remove them.
Even if they turn out to be mites, I don't think it is an emergency situation.....don't drive out of town for it! Look thru his enclosure & see if you see these "dots".....if not, then it's bound to be either what iZ does or what Thunder & Lightning does in response to temp.
and, ahem, girls.....it was 71 here today and 83 yesterday....nyah, nyah, nyah LOL But my kids would LOVE your snow!
