Just found black spots on MK's site. Mites was one of the choices. If the spots had legs and moved around. Other choices were natural coloring as growing and funigal infection. I went and got the magnafying glass and really looked. Sneakers didn't like the mag glass, received a couple of tail whips. Didn't see that it looked like a bug. How small are mites? Flea size? Is it something you can see? I have only seen mites on birds and boy are they small. The funigal infection is supposed to look fuzzy or was it furry, anyway it doesn't fit that description either.

Under the mag glass, each scale on the head kind of forms a bump or pyrimid. The black spot is on the top of the bump. Looks like part of the skin. Now we are down to about 5 spots.

We have a vet in town that used to raise igs. He said that he could do fecal exams and blood work, but not much past that. I'll call him tomorrow and see if he thinks he could recognize mites or infection on Sneakers. I think I get paranoid with Sneakers and my box turtle, because I know that there isn't a good herp vet in this area.

good & paranoid, Joan
