At about a year is when they start developing more and in the next year he'll be growing like you woudln't believe. My iguana has shot up (got him at 1 year old) and in the 6 months i swear he's doubled.
As for pellet food, I asked my vet and she said it's fine, as long as you make sure they are getting the right light, and perhaps a calcium suppliment (mine had a deffiency). So YES it is okay, tho people on this board like to think not, personally i take my vets advice. However, i do switch to greens and all the good veggies when they are in season here (winter is very hard to find some of that stuff). Sometimes it takes them a day or two to start eating, they don't like change.
Also keep in mind that they eat way more natural food (ie: greens, veggies some fruit) then the pellet food.
However, REMEMBER to keep tons of fresh water available at all times. Read the back of the food your feeding your lizard and make sure it's got the right protien, and other vitamins. I personally use Rep-cal during the winter, he seems to like that. However he hates the zoo-med 'moist' diet.
Anyways, hope that helps
Dara
