I live in Maine in the middle of nowhere ( I have to drive 2 hours to get to a traffic light ) and I can get fresh veggies . If you wanted to you could to . You live in AK you should be able to get fresh veggies everywhere .

I am not a vet but I can tell you this for a fact very few vets know much about iguanas or other herps for that matter .

Very true . The important part of this statement is the word RAISE . Do you want to raise your animal to be 5 or 20 years old ?

My dog eats her poop what does that have to do with it . YOU chose the animal it is YOUR responsibility to give it the BEST care .

If your vet told you it was ok to feed a green iguana a diet of dried pellet food then he is ignorant of the basics of iguana care . Many vets still tell people to feed there iguanas animal protein as a staple of there diet . This does not mean they are correct . Are you aware that most dry foods contain animal protein as a filler ? My point stop being lazy and get some fresh veggies then go find a vet that knows what they are doing . I can tell you this before you ask . I have been keeping iguanas for 18 years and running a rescue for 17 . I am the one that has to fix the animals after people blindly follow the vets advice .

Please do not get me wrong I do not hate vets . I am not a vet basher . There are many GREAT herp vets out there . The problem I have seen to many times to count is those vets that instead of calling or referring to a vet that has experience in the herp area they think they know whats best based on the last book they read about iguanas . As most people here will tell you 99 percent of books are simply wrong . If you want to listen to your vet it is up to you . If you want your iguana to live a full long healthy life then you need to get a new vet . The choice is yours ..
