Dara, dry juvenile food is unnatural. We've snatched iguana's from their native environment, thrown them in cages, and forced them to eat what WE give them. We are doing our best to provide natural food items, by what is most healthy and natural for the iguana's we own / encounter. We don't know exactly what iguana's eat in the wild, but I assure you they don't eat commercial iguana food. The dry iguana food is no good. It is best to stick with FRESH food, that doesn't contain preservatives and other chemicals.

Just because your vet is certified, doesn't mean that he is God, or bursting at the seams with correct information. Think of it this way-- he's telling you what might not kill your iguana, but will it be happy munching on dry, distasteful and unnatural commercial food? No. Iguana teeth are designed to tear at leaves and fruit, not chew on dry commercial food.

Please take this all into consideration, please get your iguana off of the commercial diet.
