Is canned greens and fruits, ok?

Is it ok to use canned veggies or fruits or is frozen better. I know fresh ones are always the best.
I was going to use paper towels as substrate first, is this ok, or will the IG tear them up?
Going to pick him up in couple of hours, then I gotta set his tank up. Here is what I have so far!
Use paper towel as sub(maybe indoor/outdoor carpet at later time)
I got very big hidey log, and a reptile branch(Petsmart bought) that the highest branch is about 6 inches from top
of aquarium where UVB is, this ok distance? Also got incandescent 100W bulb for heat!
Got some plastic vine type plant leaves to give him more security.
Gonna use heating pad under 3rd of hot end and but basin of water at that end with rock in the center and one as a ramp on outside
so the ig can soak, drink, and this will also create humidity! Use round saucer for food dish on the cool end.
Also got hammock and hammock ladder to put near the top where reptile branch is for another basking spot!
Got an ESU reptile made 24" 7% reflecting UVB bulb.
All this sound ok!
