: Is it ok to use canned veggies or fruits or is frozen better. I know fresh ones are always the best.
: I was going to use paper towels as substrate first, is this ok, or will the IG tear them up?
: Going to pick him up in couple of hours, then I gotta set his tank up. Here is what I have so far!
: Use paper towel as sub(maybe indoor/outdoor carpet at later time)
: I got very big hidey log, and a reptile branch(Petsmart bought) that the highest branch is about 6 inches from top
: of aquarium where UVB is, this ok distance? Also got incandescent 100W bulb for heat!
: Got some plastic vine type plant leaves to give him more security.
: Gonna use heating pad under 3rd of hot end and but basin of water at that end with rock in the center and one as a ramp on outside
: so the ig can soak, drink, and this will also create humidity! Use round saucer for food dish on the cool end.
: Also got hammock and hammock ladder to put near the top where reptile branch is for another basking spot!
: Got an ESU reptile made 24" 7% reflecting UVB bulb.
: All this sound ok!

hi you forgot the most important thing a book on iguanas .everthing else sounds fine. i would put the 100 watt basking bulb and the flouresent bulb on a timer so they go on in the morning and off at night by themselves keep the undertank heat pad on always 24hrs a day. put the lights on one side of the cage over a branch so he can bask and on the cool side put the heat pad because if you put the heat pad under the lights it will raise the temperature of the heat pad not a good idea . the tub you have to raise the humidity you really dont need go to a drug store and buy a empty small spray bottle to mist the cage instead you only need a seperate food and waterbowl the iguana might poop it the other tub then drink that dirty water not a good idea. eventually you need to teach your iguana to bathe in yor bathtub yes bathtub fill with 2 inches of water depending how big he is put a log or someting so he can climb on if he gets scared . the water has to be warm he will probably poop in the waterits normal just scoop it out wth a plastic disposable cup and flush down the toilet. let the iguana bathe till the water starts to cool and take him out after a warm bathe they are usually more relaxed and you can handle them better a warm bathe helps them also shedtheir skin better. after handling him go back and clean the bath tub with bleach and water then rinse tub with clean water this disenfects the tub also was your hands always after any contact with your pet or its cage with antibacterial soap. you also need to get 2 stik on reptile thermometers and put one at the top on the hot side and one on the bottom side of the cool side hot side 95-100 degrees coolside 80 degrees thats what my cage reads. you can feed them canned mixed vegtables or thawed frozen mix vegtables with chopped up greens like kale swisschard pasley escarole mustardgreens collardgreens donot feed them cheap iceberg lettuce it has no calcium in it al the greens i told you are the best ones occasionally fruits like blueberries strawberries cantaloupe watermelon honeydew figs bannas chop small. for protein ocassionally the whites of hardboiled eggs , pasta plain, cooked plain rice never fed dog food or cat food a good book is green iguanas the ultimate owners manual it will tell you everything available at www.herpsupplies.com or www.bigappleherp.com for substrate indoor outdoor carpet you can get at homedepot or similar homecenter store wash it get 2 pieces and keep clean newspaper is good also please buy a book theres so much the pet stores dont tell ya trust me
