Carpet Concerns

I plan to get a rock iguana, which if allowed to free-roam will spend a lot of time on my carpet. I read in a book that carpet fibres can attach to the tips of the toes block blood flow and cause them to fall of. How serious are the chances of this happening? Should I keep my future ig off the carpet?
