Apparently you collect wild species and are so kind as to provide them with a wonderful warm tank and regular food. You save them from certain death by being run over by cars, right? You and people like you are why the species in the wild are becoming endangered. Not every snake on every road will be killed. It is not some convenient excuse to toss them into a tank either. They are often out looking for mates. By taking them from the wild you are not only robbing that individual from the ecosystem but possibly future generations of offspring crucial to keep the species alive.
:What he should realize is that both CA and AZ do not allow the barter/sale or trade of native reptiles. CA has a few non venomous exceptions but as a rule, don't do it bro.
:He also never stated that he wishes to take them from the wild and place them in cages. If he did there is nothing wrong with that either. Rattlesnakes in both areas are often found on paved roads at night and commonly end up as road pizza unless someone is kind enough to avoid them or moves them off the road. To take one of these animals home and place it in a clean cage with regular food and water is no crime. If you are 13 y.o. with no venomous experience, that's a different story.

::Try to realize that it's wrong to take a wild snake and put it in a little cage. Try to find a breeder of rattlesnakes indiginous to your state/region. You'll find them. So pay a little. But do the right thing.
:::I live near san bernardino, ca..near mountains/palm springs desert area, and near yuma, az..what snakes can I find? Please tell me where to look and what months are good to look, and what times of day..thanks
