I have driven by many rattlesnakes (sidewinders especially) that are collecting the heat of the black top and just left them to fate. Certain animals will survive and others won't. The point is, taking an animal home has NO, none, zero, impact on that population. The road alone accounts for far more casualites than any herper will ever cause.
I won't get into a pi$$ing contest with you over morality of collecting because you believe what you want to and so do I. If you had some valid scientific reason for your beliefs I might take a second to think about it but the truth is, you don't.
