I have had better results using rep-cal and herptivite. When I started using Miner-all Two of my chameleons developed neck edema and stopped eating. When I switched back to rep-cal the edema slowly went away. This is strange since Miner-all contains iodine which is supposed to help with edemas. To get the iodine in their system I now just add some chopped cabbage to the crickets food. Cabbage is high in iodine. Gutloading is the best and safest way to get vitamins and nutrients into your chameleon. I am not saying to leave out supplements altogether I am just saying that a nutritious gutload can do wonders for your chameleons health. I gutload with a good commercial gutload and I add flake fishfood (for the iodine and vitamins), bee pollen, powdered milk, and spirulina. I also feed Kale, cabbage, oranges, mustard greens, carrots, honey and scrambled eggs to my crickets. I posted a photo of my chameleon (see This is Salvador) I have had him for almost two years and the inside of his mouth is yellow. I read in Reptiles magazine that Wild Caught chameleons have this trait but lose it after a few months in captivity. Three of my chameleons have this yellow coloring in their mouth. The third one I have only had for two weeks and her mouth is a pale pink. It would be interesting to know if diet has an effect on this coloring or if anyone else has a chameleon that has been in captivity for more than a few months with a yellow coloring inside their mouth.
As for the bulb I have used both and I like the T-rex active UV bulb best. It has very high UVB and is effective for up to 6 feet away. My chameleons love it and bask in it all the time.
