Home made FF medium

Ok I have just made a batch of FF medium based on this recipe:
1 cup of powdered sugar
8 cups potato flakes
1/2-1 cups of brewers yeast
active yeast on top of course

Ok here is the question, will 1/2 water 1/2 vinager be as good as 4 Teaspoons Methyl Paraben?

I have not had a problem with mold, with Carolina medium, and am now testing the above medium. I just wondered what results others have had.
