Russian Rat feeding schedule?

: I just purchased a small (12-14 inch approx) Russian Rat and was told by the seller that at this time, a small pinky a week would be appropriate. Does this seem like too little? The reason I ask is because he passes it so quickly, like 24-48 hours, where my milks take like 3-5 days. Stinks worse too. Am I correct in assuming they have a faster matabolism than what I'm used to and can take more frequent feedings?
