Hey Jeremy;
Not sure as to how to spot a screamer, I haven't really rasied enough hatchlings to tell. If I have any luck this year I'll be able to provide you with a more informed answer next year, since I plan to keep a couple of holdbacks. I have a couple that are 'average' I have 1 screamer that Terry sent me. She has yellow that would put a Mangrove snake to shame VERY pretty I also have one yearling that's just getting an orangish hue to his yellow so we'll have to see.
The most consistent thing you can predict on these guys would seem to be a pattern, what the pattern looks like as a baby tends to lead that way into adult hood. I find it easier to identify mine by head markings. I haven't seen any 'high yellows' like you'd look for in Spilotes I have OTOH seen an almost solid black one, THAT was pretty, looked like an Indigo with yellow facial scales. My friend in Ontario owned it, i actually cried when he lost it I wanted a baby outta that one so bad.
Tell ya what I'll fire you off some pics of what I've got OK then you can see for yourself what your little guy will turn into.
Take care
Dean
