he discovered how to get out of his cage, I stopped putting the top on it and he just came and went as he pleased. My bedroom was next to the bathroom and the access panel for the bath tub was in my closet. Inky (the name of my indigo) spent most of her time undernieth the bath tub, but would come back to her cage regularly. The bath tub fuacets had been converted from seperate hot and cold faucets to one in the center of the tub. Inky would often stick her her head through the old faucet opennings and watch as we got baths. It didn't bother me to much, but my sisters and mom often complained to me about it. One time I had a friend over and we were in my room playing guitars when inky, about six feet at the time came slithering out of the closet. My friend eyes grew wide and the expression on his face was unbelievable to say the least!!! I had to explain to him that inky was my pet indigo. Of course the real fun was when my mother was throwing a Tupper Ware party and I had left my door open to my room. My sister had to go to the bathroom (which was located up stairs) and for some strange reason, my sister always ran up the stairs on all fours, when she encountered inky, face to face coming down the stairs. I guess inky just wanted to join the west of girls in party! Never the less, my sister went and got my mother and they dragged inky back to my room. They just didn't feel that the other women would have understood inky joining the tupperware party!! Of course mom ready the right-act to me after that. What a great snake inky was. I had purchsed her from Ross Allen in 1961 for $5.00 and she laid 8 eggs about two months after I got her.
