I don't know if it is the same where you were looking, but where i live chicken snakes are Yellow Rats and the intergrade rats (yellow and Black rat cross). These are "chicken snakes" in NC & SC. Hope this hellps and good luck.: It turned out to be a pretty crappy day, being cool, windy and overcast, but I did see some stuff.
: 1 mud turtle
: A few hundred small frogs (3-5 in), and this is what I need help on. They were uniformly brown with 2 parallel lighter brown stripes running down their backs. I didn't see any spots, and the quickly dove into the water whenever I tried to get a look at them.
: A mouse that darted out of a log, scared my dad half to death, and ran 15 or 20 feet up as tree.
: And now the highlight... An old beat up pickup truck with no bed (just metal bars in the back) with the word "REDNECK" on the windsheild.
: I am going back to this piece of land in a couple of months probably. One of my dad's coworkers lives on it and says he's seen copperheads, timber rattlers, bull snakes, and chicken snakes (what exactly are these, great plains rats?). It's getting late, and I think I'm rambling. That's about it.
