I have then same question as the rest of you.My 7 year old went out to gather eggs and there lay what they call in arkansas a chicken snake.he was black.I was wondering if they were poisonus or even how to get rid of them, because they are eating up my eggs.
:
Yellow Rats and the intergrade rats (yellow and Black rat cross). These are "chicken snakes" in NC & SC. Hope this hellps and good luck.
: : : This was in Bastrop, Texas, and it's about 1 hour east of Austin. My Granny has also talked about seeing chicken snakes when she was a kid. She lived in Kingfisher, Oklahoma, and I don't think their the same "chicken snakes" that are in Bastrop. Scientific names sure help...
: : Snakes I have seen refered to as "chicken snakes".....Mostly E.obseleta(nearly all subspecies),but also E.g.emoryi,E.g.guttata,P.m.sayi,P.m.melanoleucus,P.m.mugitus,and even L.getula.Mostof the time,if you ask someone to describe a chicken snake,it will turn out to be the local subspecies of Elaphe obseleta.

: I have something stealing a baby duck a night from the chicken house. It is funny because there is no way for anything to get in or out, all holes have been filled with cement. What does a chicken snake look like?
