I live in North Carolina on the eastern side. I saw a copper colored snake with a lighter belly (not quite white).
the snake was about 3 feet long and had its head raised to catch a frog. There were no destinctive markings, just a
solid copper color. We live near a very small creek. Could it be a water snake instead of a chicken snake?
