Bowl Feeding?

My little guy is about 3.5 months old now, and I use to always feed him by just putting crickets in the cage and watching him eat them. But after reading about bowl feeding I have been trying that for 3 days now, and from what I can see he wont eat any of them. I even put him along the rim of the bowl to show him that food was in there, but he just ran off. I haven't seen him eat now in three days. My question is how long should I keep going with this bowl feeding or should I just go back to feeding him the way I was?
