Back in the sixties we used to purchase "Gray Cribos" from the Tarpon Zoo Importers. They came out of northern Colombia and were pale silver-gray with the typical melanurus facial marks, racing stripe on either side of the neck, and the solid black tail. Far more contrasting than most Central American specimens we see today. Five to six footers were $7.50. Larger were $10.00, and 8-9 footers were $20.00.
Does anybody ever see the silver ones any more? In Costa Rica I have collected huge peach/apricot colored black-tails with bold black highlights. Very beautiful but not something I've seen here in the U.S. market.
