Hi !
Tofu was recommended in the past because of being rich in protein.
But it is not generally recommended today because of all the fat that it
contains. I guess alfalfa and other beans has more or less replaced
Tofu as protein source. However, some still feed it.
I feed a lot of beans myself...., mainly kidney beans but also garbanzo
beans. These beans have less fat than Soybeans.
What 100 grams of different types of beans contain....
Beans, kidney, red, mature seeds, cooked, boiled, without salt.......Total lipid (fat) = 0.5 grams
Chickpeas (garbanzo beans, bengal gram), mature seeds, cooked, boiled, without salt..... 2.59 grams
Soybeans, mature cooked, boiled, without salt........................................... 8.970 grams
The Soybeans contained 16.64 grams
and the kidney beans 8.67 grams
and the garbanzo beans 8.86 grams
of protein.
I hope this helps
