My iguana has wacked out

I just brought home my Iguana yesterday,who was given to me by a
friend who couldn't take care of him any longer.She has him in a
10 gallon tank witch is way to small for him but I can't change
him into his new big tank until tonight. Anyway I brought him home
and he was fine,2 hours later he started to freak out by lashing
out,slaming his body against the glass,running(well trying to)
around. I will take him out and try to comfort him but he lashes
his tail at me and gapes his mouth open. Could this be stressed
related? Who long will it last and what can I do to mellow him out?
