I hope no one minds if I reply to everything in post. THANKS to those who replied!!!
Iguana03 's first post: You got me! LOL. I wrote 224 square feet, I meant to write 224 cube feet. I guess one of those tail whips to the head did more damage than I thought. I have a question for you. What wattage is that heater you use? And how much of the day is it running?
harry's Dad's post: This one puzzled me a bit. It sounds like he is replying to a post that mentions baseboard heat and something else, and I didn't see anything like this. But there is something I do want to say about this. All the baseboard heaters I have seen use the higher wattage that washer and dryers use I believe it is 225 volts. I DON'T want to mess with that stuff I would probably kill myself!! LOL.
Gina's post: I checked out that web page. I totally love those heat panels! I will probably use one or two for basking spots. But as for heat the whole cage they are too small in wattage, in fact on their web page they say "for vivariums with capacities up to 16 cubic feet." meaning the three standard sizes. I know that they can make bigger ones but I have a feeling they would cost an arm and a leg. Do you use these? If so, how close to iguanas basking spot? You bring up a good point about safety. Portable ceramic heaters are about 750-1500 watts so they put out a lot of heat. If I did use this I would have to make sure iguanas don't come into contact with it. What I would probably do is put a low wide shelf and add wire screen between it and the floor and stick the heater under there (and maybe a humidifier too).
