iZ has a room that's about 10'x 9'x 8' high ... i use one of those electric heaters that look like the old-fashioned radiators ... they put out enough heat but don't get quite as hot as the ceramic heaters so i didn't have to allow as much free space between the heater and the walls (and *iZ*!)
it's *still* too warm to be something i want him to sit on so i took the closet door off and replaced it with a plastic meshed 'screen door' sorta thing and put the heater in the closet with a fan to blow the warm air out ...
it worked great all winter (in iowa) in this old drafty house we live in ... iZ stayed warm + toasty ... also have a red 250 watt heat lamp aimed at his basking spot ...

the heater has a thermostat and once i got *it* adjusted, i just left it on all day ... the red light is on all day (off at night for beddy-by) ... also have a cool mist humidifier that runs a total of 6 hours a day during the winter ... prob'ly won't need it here in the summer! also have a *small* pool with a little fountain for drining water that adds to the humidity ...

hmmm ... oh ... iZ's room also has a heater vent and so the 'radiator' isn't the *only* heat source, but it is the *main* one ... (heater vent is 75% shut)

does that help? or confuse *more*??? *grin*

: P + :)
