Today, due to the most unfortunately accident, a log fell and severed my iguana's tail (towards the tip about 1/3 wayup from the skinny end). My iguana then try to break off the end of its tail by whipping it is around. This made the situation worse for the tail was then literally hanging on by a thread. I immediately took my pet to emergency care, the vet amputated and trimmed the tail, then bandaged it up. My iguna is on antibiotic treatment, and the vet informed me that the the tail will eventually regenerate. Is she correct? I have always thought the green iguanas were not the kind of lizard to regenerate the lost tail. Any information you have would be greatly appreciated, and I truly hope that my lizard doesn't end up with a stubbed tail. Thank you.
