is s/he on oral antibiotics as well as topical antibiotics? (the kind you put directly *on* the wound?) igs heal very slowly and so it's not a bad idea with a large wound, to take preventative measures and avoid an infection rather than treat an actual infection ... make sure you finish all the meds and keep a close eye on the tail end for the next couple months ... watch for *anything* unusual ... any discoloring, swelling, oozing, more sensitive to touch ....

iZ broke his tail in about the same place as your ig lost his and felt pretty miserable for a week or so ... i put him on "bed-rest" for that week by greatly reducing his daylight time so he'd just lay in his 'bed' and sleep (like he doesn't do that anyway! *grin*) but it *did* help keep him quiet and give the bone a chance to set ...
he wouldn't let us put a splint/bandage on it (he *threw* himself around the room til i threw a blanket over him and removed the splint!) so consider yourself lucky that your's let himself be bandaged!

worrier that i am, i'd give a bit of vitamin supplement on a daily basis (a teeny sprinkle of crushed Centrum tablet) ...

so what's your ig's name?????
hope he's feeling better soon!

head rubs + collard greenz

oh ... iZ was on Baytril and Nolvagen (Nolvasen?) (can't read the vet's writing!)
