whole sale iguanas

Hi All,
I would like to say some of the problems that arise with iguanas at pet store are/or can be from the supplier. Although we only get to see the results at the pet store; this doesn't always mean it happened there. If we keep "the lines open" with pet store owners, maybe they will help us stop any whole sellers that have poor conditions. Iguanas being shipped as some of you know, is nothing less then terrible. To spend two days....possible more in a closed box, piled on top of each other, being thrown around,( I could go on, but I think you get the picture) puts these little guys in such a stress, it's a wonder any of them make it. Behind the scene is ugly and options are limited on getting iguanas to pet stores. It's a sad world for igs I'm afraid, the only thing that we can look at is that hopefully they will find good loving parents that will make their life wonderful from the first day home....for the rest of their life. I believe what our goal should be is to keep them all in check! Don't let a business relax for too long or they will cut any and all corners they can get away with ( I AM NOT saying ALL pet stores will do this)or suppliers. Suppliers to me are people who stay out of touch with the iguana owners. So what happens at their business is less noticed by owners. This is where the pet store owner comes into play with us. Information from them could be given to us by them and we could address it will the supplier directly. I think you will find that some where around HALF the sick iguanas in pet stores come from suppliers that way. I have seen my share of poor igs in pet stores and wish I could take them all home, but it's just not possible. Education is the best method I know...I hope together WE all can make the difference and help these igs!
