I have seen some good pet stores and some bad ones. When my mom wanted to get an iguana, we looked around at pet stores because we were having trouble finding one for her to adopt. In one pet store we saw very healthy lizards all the way around. In another pet store, I noticed mites on the ig we were looking at. When I pointed this out to the employee, she said that the 2 igs in the cage were being treated for the problem. Isn't that something we should have been told when we asked to look at them? I don't we would have been told even if we bought the animals.
I am sick of seeing lizards with missing tails and other wounds. It seems obvious that the lizards are fighting, but they are still kept in the same cage. I will not even shop at the pet store near here where the lizards look healthy when they get them, but after being there for a few weeks they start getting sick and dying.
Education is a key. And I'd like to say that if you haven't seen anything about NIAD check it out.

By the way... my mom now has two iguanas. Both had previous owners. One she got free and the other she paid $15 for.
