Today I expaned the shelf space for Tempest, and made his basking shelf solid instead of mesh, so far he seems to like it better. My question, is at what "level" do people put their igs food, fresh water, bath, and hide? Right now, Tempest doesn't move up and down his cage alot, so I've put in some extra rope ladders and moved his food to the lowest shelf, which is about 2 feet off the ground. His hide is the next shelf up, which is about 18" higher than the lowest shelf, and I've left his top shelf with just a comfy towel for basking, which is about 2" over the middle shelf and about a food from the top. All the lights sit on the top and are protected by smooth grills. The bottom of the cage is linoleum lined with newspaper, and I've moved his water bath to the bottom.
Any suggestions on different arrangements? Does this seem ok? He was happy enough to climb up from the bottom, but at this point I don't know if he will climb down. I know he'll go down to the middle shelf, and has been down to the lowest but I don't know how often. I feel a bit mean putting his hide one shelf down, but I'd rather see him using more of his cage.
