My igs are just the same, they prefer the blue and green one.I think they look more "nature" then than the stainless steel bowls.Perhaps your ig is afraid of the ig it can see on the steel bowl!LOL!!I use to hang the food and water bowls on my igs cages walls.Like that no risk of poop/peep going inside!

True enough, I just sometimes think he's maybe bored hanging out on the top shelf all the time, or doesn't realize he can go down as well as up. I use flared base dog dishes for his food, so they can't get knocked over, they work well. He definately prefers the green plastic ones over the stainless steel ones, can't say he isn't a cheap date! :)

::Just keep an eye on him and monitor his behavior. You can adjust accordingly. I put my food dishes up high (rig them so they don't get knocked over). Sleestack doesn't move around a lot when it isn't breeding season so I ensure he eats more when the food is within his view. This time of year he is up and down a gazillion times!
