I answered your post regarding mites below, you can probably deal with them yourself if you read the articles. Bathing, cleaning the cage, and using a vegetable oil such as olive oil while keeping your ig of substrate will go a long way to killing the mites.

Mouth rot, I have no experience with in igs, but I do in other animals. I can tell you what I would try given your situation, but input from others might be good as well, plus you run the rist of getting badly bitten if you aren't careful. Dip a q-tip in hydrogen peroxide, and carefully wipe out your igs mouth. It will taste very bad, and foam and be unpleasant. Be ready with another cotton wipe or two or three to then rinse iggy's mouth out with water. This will kill off many harmful bacteria and help get rid of the rot, however you do not want your ig to swallow any of it, nor do you want to do it more than once or twice a day. Hydrogen peroxide will not kill your ig unless they swallow alot of it, hence the q-tip, but it will make them unhappy. Beats the alternative though.

What other problems are you having? I'm sure with some good advice and common sense, we can help you work through them. Lots of soaks, lots of good food and water, and most animals will get over just about anything you can imagine with some TLC and patience. Don't let negative people turn you off if you really want to keep and help your ig!

:Hey. I'm kinda depressed. When I mentioned vet visit to my mother and father, they freaked about price. Plus I found out that the nearest vet that does anything herpish is about two hours away. I live in a mostly-farmish area, all of the vets are mammal based. And I think Ziggy has mouth rot. The pet store my folks got her from is probably the worst in the area, and in an area of horrendously sucky pet stores, that's pretty bad. So, yeah. If my parents are too wary of giving me any sort of funding for an animal they sort of shoved on me on the assumption that an initial mild interest is the grounds of true desire.....I'm gonna give her up for adoption. God, I really hate writing that. I'm actually sitting here crying, I've really grown to love her a lot. Anyway, I don't know how to go about this. Or, if any of you would like to take on another Iguana, I think I might be able to ship her to you. I'd probably have to ask for you to pay shipping, but at least then we'd all know she was getting a really good home. Yeah. I just want her to get a good home. So, yeah. I'm just in a general depressed mood, really. My parents get me this thing, then yell at me when I want to take care of it properly. Yeah. I'm gonna leave now. Thanks for any prompt answers, and happy New Year.
