My lizard looks sick

Hi fellow lizard-lovers! I am new to this forum, and hope you will be able to help me with my Eswarto. He hasn't been feeling too hot lately.

I bought him in a little shop on the boardwalk in Wildwood, NJ. They had about a hundred of these cute little lizards and it took forever for me to convince my dad to let me get just one! They told me that I can keep him in one of the plastic tanks they were selling- I got the one with the red plastic top (don't worry, it has holes in it) so that he cannot get out.

I have had him since the end of the summer. I have been feeding him canned dog food- thats what the shop told me they liked. I bought the decent stuff too- the chunky kind with gravy, not the processed stuff. I also keep a bowl of water in there for him, but it takes up half the tank! (I figure thats ok because I knew enough to know all living things need water!)

Anyway, since I started school this week, I'm hoping he just is lonely becuase I don't get to talk to him much because he has been acting wierd. He isn't touching his food anymore- maybe he needs a different kind? He is also starting to turn brown in some spots. Is this normal?

Ok, please write back. Sorry if this is so long you didn't want to read it.
