shots a less painful way to do it - help

My poor little Baby bashed his nose and got it infected. We went to the Vet yesterday to have her check it out. She drained the swollen area, and gave him a shot. I have to give him 3 more (the first tomorrow). I have someone to help me to do this that has given shots before. I know that I have to pin him down (my poor arms). My biggest question is, is there a way to make it a less painful experience for Baby? Poor thing didn't even want to look at me this morning. I am sure that he has labeled me the MEAN MOM. If he only knew that the idea of a shot hurts me more then it hurts him.
