Guapi's black lumps

Just like Guapi's vet told me, those black lumps were scabs and I'm happy to report that he is finally starting to shed them! We took an extra long shower this morning and I massaged him for about 20 minutes and got all the shed and loose scabs off and I was delighted to see brilliant turquoise green Guapi scales underneath all of that crud. I felt like he had just come back from the beauty parlor! The vet comes back in another week for another injection and mite check. I have been
following everyone's advice and disinfecting the cage, and everything in it every two days. I also followed Iz's mom's advice and have been feeding him treats (banana and mustard greens) when he is out of the cage to reward him. He still nips at me sometimes. Right now he is still so small that it doesn't hurt, but I hope he gets over this habit before he gets big and it hurts. Any clues for discouraging the nipping or will he outgrow this with age and more taming?...Laura & Guapi
