Okay, okay, you guys win. I came here expecting to find educated iguana caregivers willing to disseminate valuable information for the nurturing of future reptilian babies, who did nothing more sinister than be the first sperm to find the eggs. The other forums would foolishly hand over this information on their focus animals as if everyone had a right to know everything possible. Silly fools. How lucky I am to have stumbled across this forum full of freezer salesmen.
I will fully admit that too many people jump into the ownership of iguanas without the knowledge of the responsibility they command. There are also plenty of people out there who just want a big, impressive lizard. Both types of people end up being overwhelmed by the requirements of these magnificent beasts, or, even worse, just become bored with them. This undoubtedly why so many abused and neglected iguanas end up in the homes of us, the people who can and do accept the responsibility. However, when I think about the prospect of freezing these innocent lizards, I cringe. Why do we jump to punishing the victims? Why not educate the public on the needs and size of iguanas, weeding out the impulse buyers? Tell them the horror stories about the six foot male iguana that attacked his owner, leaving bite and claw marks all over him/her. Lastly, lets punish the people that let their animals get into such horrible shape. Hold them responsible for letting the iguana get dehydrated, emaciated, covered in infected wounds and scared to death of the touch of any human. These are the things that we should be doing to ensure the proper care of our iguana and other reptilian friends. But, whenever someone who is trying to care for the animal(s) for whom they have accepted the burden of responsibility comes to us for advice, lets not push them away. No one is going to rush to your cause simply by hearing your rallying cry of "THROW THEM IN THE FREEZER". Constantly repeating this mantra simply makes you sound like the nuts in the HSUS and PETA.

Can't we all just get along?
