Head bobbing

My iguana, Borris is about 2-3 feet long. Sometimes when i pet him he stares at me puffs his skin under his neck out and bobs his head. I bobbed back once and he got mad and bobbed at me so i stepped away. Does the head bobbing mean hes a boy? And is he head bobbing because my bathroom has now become HIS territory??? I hope im not in trouble tomorrow morning in the shower lol. Anyways when he head bobs should i back down like i did? I dont want him thinking hes the boss of me.
