MITES????

Okay when I was about to put HOSS in for his bath this morning I noticed a little red bug about the size of the tip on a needle roaming about on him...I got it off him and mashed it and didn't see anymore until I started to clean out his aquarium. I saw a few more roaming around on the driftwood, but nowhere else. Are these mites, and how would I get them. When I got all the accessories for my tank I completely disinfected them....used the bleach solution you talk about, and went as far as cooking the rocks, and driftwood in the oven at 350 degrees for about a half hour...If these are mites and I took the appropriate actions for disinfecting how would I get them or could this just be little bugs on the driftwood that survived the "BAKING"...God please tell me these aren't mites, and can they harm HOSS??? and what actions should I take now???? Thanks all!!!!
