Don't bake your rocks-- very dangerous!

I learned recently that you should NOT bake rocks. Apparently they can explode! I am very lucky we did not have a disaster in our apartment when I tried this myself. Other ways to disinfect your stuff is to pour boiling water over them (outside or in the sink) or soak them in diluted bleach


Don't buy any commercial mite stuff right now-- use the betadine as suggested below. If it were me, I would soak your ig, disinfect his aquarium, only use papertowels or newspapers on the bottom.

Don't replace any of the wood or rocks until you are 100% sure he is mite free (and the cage). Instead let him climb/bask on tupperware or other plastic and not porous surfaces. Keep him this way for a couple weeks until you see no more mites. Then you can decide if you want to use your rocks or driftwood again OR you may decide to get some other furnishings if you don't trust that they are mite free.
