We have a chimney full of them too! None have fallen thank God, but this is our first year of having them (must be a hole in our screen or whatever up on top of the chimney. I love birds so haven't wanted to harm them... just recently researched the fact that they were swifts and have been corresponding over the internet with some wildlife organization about them. He said I have to wait until late October after the birds leave to hire a much needed chimney sweep (filthy chimney). The babies were incredibly loud at night in our living room, but it was kind of cute! I think they would get upset by certain tv noises! Now that I've read up on them I feel very sorry for them and am not sure whether we will just share our chimney with them next year or repair it. I researched building an alternate nesting site for them, but it is a pain (you basically have to build a psuedo chimney almost as big as a real one) Here is the site I was looking at in case you are interested.
