speaking of chimney birds ...

have had the same happen here, tho now with swifts ... baby bird falls down the chimney and i hear him PEEPING endlessly in the basement ...
have got it figured out tho!
i take the baby outside + sit him in the yard in one of milo-puppy's old water bowls (NO water!) so he can't wander away, i give him a bit of water in a jar lid and some crushed puppy food and then milo + i go in the house + wait ...
SOMEhow ~ mama bird comes + gets him + takes him home! haven't actually got to witness it ~ darn it! but it's within 30 minutes ...

this year, it was a baby crow ~ what a funny lookin' little baby THAT was!

gotta get hubby back up on the roof to fix the hole in the screening again ... it's too emotionally draining to worry about wild baby birds in the basement! (one time it took me an hour to find WHERE in the basement he'd hopped off to ... )
