Hey all!
My iggy (Wasabi, pic a few threads down) has been lunging at
his food when I put it in the enclosure for quite a while
now. I usually wake him up and put his food in and everything's
fine since he's just warming up in the mornings, but when I get
home he has finished his plate so I'll give him a smaller
portion in the afternoons.. and he lunges at this food like
he's starving (and in the process running over my arm, scraping
me up, sometimes knocking the food out of my hand and all over
the place, he also bites (bites my hand/arm when I put the food
in).
Does anyone have an ideas how to stop this? I know he's not
starving, he gets a big plate in the morning! (he's a little over
3' long my guess and 2 yrs old) I feed him a big handful (or two) of
greens and handful of mixed veggies.. which seems and looks like
a lot to me... and that's just in the morning. Is he trying
to tell me to leave him bigger bowls of food? Am I not
feeding enough? You can see in the pic below he's a little
pudge so I would think he's getting enough. Is there another
reason he'd be lunging at the food like that or any advice on
how to get him to stop charging it like that? (And get him to
stop biting me?? I was told on IML year ago he was biting
because he probably thought I was food but he'd grow out of
it... he hasn't stopped yet...)
Thanks for any advice!!!! I don't want this to keep happening,
when he's adult those bites are going to really hurt.
