My iguana (5 yrs old) does this too. The best thing you can do is cover his eyes when you put in the food so he can't see it. If your iguana see's the food before you put it in the cage, then you might want to cover it with you hand or raise it up high so he can't see it. Quickly put it in his cage and I don't think it will be a problem.
