Andy,

If pet stores told people the truth about iguanas (completely) most people wouldn't buy them in the first place and that's NOT what the pet stores want. If their return is 500% profit over their investment, they will continue selling that product.
Hey, those darn iglets sure look cute and that attracts plenty of customers and that's the bait for selling them. If stores posted and told the whole truth about iguanas, parents of children would say "NO, we're not getting one of those".
If we can't get the pet stores to tell the truth about iguanas, then we might as well attempt to get them to stop selling them altogether.
If pet stores would raise the price of iguanas to 75.00 each, that would be a great improvement, since the impulse buyer (parents of children/or young people thinking iguanas are Cool) wouldn't buy them at that price. But pet stores know that sells would drop and profits would be lost. For the most part.....pet stores don't care what happens to the reptile after it leaves their stores. If they did......they'd tell their customers the truth right up front, sell or no sell.
Heck, I can't tell you stores about iguana owners taking in their full grown iguanas into pet stores having a sale on iglets, and the owners of the stores getting mad at these people for showing what they look like full grown. The owners of the store realize they're losing money as long as this person is in the store with that LARGE iguana and telling people that's what the little cute iglet will grow up to be. Parents freak when they see how big they get and find out the special requirements they demand.
So.....what choice of direction do you go??? Try to get the pet store to tell the truth? Or just get them to quit selling them?
