I need help with my spiney tailed iguana (Ctenosaura similis). She is over 2 ft long and 2 1/2 years old and tame as can be. I've had her since she was a few weeks old. She is petrified of a new food
bowl (for parrots) that has a holder that screws onto her branch so I can keep it up high off of the substrate so she can't dig chips into it. You see I have her in cyprus mulch and sometimes she digs the chips into the bowl and then I see her
eating out of that bowl. I'm worried she might eat some chips and get impacted. I don't want to
switch to newspaper or any other paper cause I don't like the way it looks and i don't think the lizard will be as happy if she can't dig. I also don't want the pellets. (I'm more of a pain in the but than the lizard is)
So anyway I took the thing out and tried her later in the day when she calmed down with another bowl almost like the
one she always had but different than the one shes scared of. Shes scared of that too. Then after she calmed down I just
picked anything up and brought it near the cage. It seems shes scared of ANYTHING forign near her cage. It really freaks
her out , and me for that matter. The big question do you think she will eventually get used to it and eat out of it or will
it always stress her out?
