Yes Jif the bowl is Stainless Steel. Good guess. Thats the first thing I thought of and I put electrical Tape around it so there is no reflection. This did not help. I did try another bowl that wasn't stainless It seems shes scared of that or ANYTHING new in the cage. I guess shes really set in her ways.
This lizard has been in this cage for 2 1/2 years and loves to dig around in the mulch. She pushes the stuff up around her cork bark like shes making her bed before going in for the night. And sho goes on digging sprees from time to time and seems to enjoy it. I really dont want to take it away because the way she is she might get depressed if paper is there instead. But on the other hand I'm getting a lot of feedback from other people in other Ig forums to get rid of the mulch. Although Mark M. has used it for his ctenos for years and had no problems.
The way I have it all mounded up I will have to reorganize other Items and it will be a major renovation of the cage and I hope this does not stress her if I switch to paper. I am too nervous about all of this to put the old bowl back and take a chance on impactation though. Shes going on day 3 with the bowl in there and seems to be less scared but she has not totally accepted it.
I guess the right thing to do is just get rid of the mulch and see what happens When i get home tonight if she still shows fear I'm gonna switch to paper.
Thats what I'll do. I'll keep everybody posted.
Thanks,
John
