Yellow Squash?

Hello, I always put a squash of some sort in my ig salad. I use regular yellow squash (the ones that are way easy to peel),and I use a butternut or speghetti squash. My husband always peels the speghetti or butternut for me, they are hard to peel. He's getting sick of peeling them tho. I read below that someone here puts them in the oven, how long do they need to stay in the oven? We once tried the microwave, but, didnt leave it in there long enough, so, if someone can recommend microwave time that would be great too. I love to eat butternut squash, but, I cook mine all the way and would hate to end up cooking my igs butternut all the way. Suggestions appreciated, thanks Yvette
