Tracie,

I'm not sure what the name is of our plant, but it makes giant plate size flowers that we feed of iguanas. We planted two of them outside and if I ever get our film developed I'll post them.
I have seen the type you are talking about and yes you can give them the leaves and flowers off of them. I would remove it from the container it came in and knock as much of the soil off the root ball first and then replant it in some chemical free soil. It probably won't do good the first year with the transplant but stay with it, it should be doing great by next year. If you want to put a plant in with your iguana (cage) I would suggest having a stock of hibiscus, because they will clean the leaves and flowers off the stems!! We just leave ours in the ground outside....it comes back each year...bigger and better too!! The type you are looking at would have to stay in the house in the winter time.
hope this helps some.....maybe someone knows the "names correctly" Sue1????
