How to disinfect branches?

I just found the best basking branch I could find (Couldn't find any big driftwood at the Pet Store) And I can't remember the best way to disinfect it and get rid of the peskies. Not really sure if I should use bleach, and it's a little too awkward to fit in the oven. Any ideas?
