I understand about reptile parasites being species specific....but to imply that it is not necessary to disinfect branches is against all information from vets, websites, texts on reptile
husbandry Ive come across. If a simple bleach & water solution or baking small branches in a 250 degree oven for 45 minutes will kill wound parasites & macrofungi on the branch not to mention ticks, spiders, etc then I think it is worth this one time effort of eliminating these organisms from invading the enclosure, my home, or affecting my reptiles in some negative way. Its better to be safe than sorry I figure. Even tho reptile ectoparasites are species specific...there are lots of other bugs that bite...and Im not taking any chances of a spider or other bug biting my reptiles armpits or mouth or eyes...because I was too lazy to do a simple preventative step. After you use the bleach & water solution...I know you are supposed to rinse it thoroughly & let it sun dry. I highly doubt that the bleach will remain in any quantity to create problems if disinfecting is done correctly....imo
