Friend's Iguana has a sore spot, need advice

She tells me that Lizzie has a dark spot that has turned from brown to black on the side of her body, she thought it may be shed but when she tried to help her (as she always does) she could tell that it hurt, so she stopped and put a light coat of Polysporin on it. Could someone tell me what this could be and how she can treat it if there is something specific in the market. It isn't a burn, is it? I neeadvice because I only own leopard geckos and don't know much about iguanas. Thanks in advance...
